Speaker 1:

NoorAzian Abd. Wahab is currently attached to R&D Department, National Instruments in Penang as a R&D Operation Manager responsible for R&D Operations, Academic & Industry Relations.

She has experienced working in R&D engineering product development for RF state-of-art analog and digital communication equipment and test measurement equipment as well as working with universities, industries and ministries. She was a Product Design Engineer, R&D Engineering Manager, Marketing Manager, R&D Operation Manager and Academic & Industry Relations Manager.

NoorAzian is one of the pioneer team members who started up and grow National Instruments R&D organization in Penang since 2010. She is passionate in growing leaders in the organization through training, coaching and mentoring individuals who are identified as potential leaders.  She is also a Trainer for various leadership courses within National Instruments.  She was involved in pioneering and leading Malaysia’s Women Business Councils in Motorola Penang in 2005 as well as pioneered Penang National Instruments’ Women’s Network Program in 2013.

She leads various STEM projects utilizing industries platform by working with different agencies and universities to create awareness in technology’s application to solve engineering problem.  She is a well-known industry leader in pushing STEM agenda in Penang, and a regular women leader in engineering field who gets invited as panel speaker in engineering and leadership conferences.

NoorAzian graduated with BSc. In Electrical Engineering from University of Evansville, Indiana, USA and hold a Master Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, USA.    She is currently holding a professional certification in Training from HRDF as well as International Coaching Federation’s Coaching & Mentoring certification.

Speaker 2:

Widad Ismail is a professor and project coordinator for the Auto-ID Laboratory, Universiti Sains Malaysia. She obtained her Beng (First Class Honors in Electronics and Communication Engineering) from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom (1999). She obtained her PhD in 2004 (Active Integrated Antenna with Image Rejection) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. She worked in the University of Birmingham from 2000 to 2003 as a postgraduate teaching assistant. She has been working as a lecturer in Universiti Sains Malaysia since 2004. Her main areas of research are Microwave sensor and embedded IoT system design, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), active integrated antennas (AIA) and RF design. Her research and scientific outputs have been translated to numbers of awards, publications and patents. To date, she is a Principal Investigator for 30 research grants. These research works have produced 2 granted and 6 filed patents, 10 international awards, 4 commercialized main research products and more than 150 publications including the international journal papers, conference/seminars and other publications. Furthermore, several incomes has been generated to the University mainly from the Commercialization of research innovative products and also the services as a principle consultant. In addition, there are more than 40 consultations and collaborations that have been established with various agencies and institutions which bridging the gap between the academicians to the industrialists. Currently, she is the main supervisor of 11 PhD students (active candidature) and 4 Master’s by research students and she has graduated a total of 17 PhD and 13 Master’s students under her supervision and guidance. On top of these, she is also a member of IEEE and Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF).

Speaker 3:

Sarguna Karuppiah graduated from University Of Hertfordshire in Bsc(Hons) Business Information Systems. With 13 years experience in Motorola Solutions, she started in Motorola Solutions as an intern and is now a Systems Support Manager supporting APAC region customers. Her role is to ensure Motorola Solutions products and services meet customer’s needs and enable our partners to deliver solutions to drive business continuity. She has travelled to many countries for customer technical issue resolutions and successfully managed many radio system deployment projects. Passionate about adding value to the organisation, she drives process improvements to increase customer satisfaction and manage regional customer issue escalation.She is a certified external auditor for ISO9001:2015 for 6 years to ensure the organisation is compliant and meeting standards of Motorola brand. Sarguna is passionate about women empowerment and is an active member of the Women’s Business Council in Motorola Solutions. She is also a strong believer of Strengthsfinder.
